Most volcanoes spit out red lava, but not the Kawah Ijen of Indonesia. This rare and gorgeous volcanoe spews out lava that's a bright shade of blue due to the burning sulfur. This amazing and rare phenomenon is a once in a lifetime sight to see.
The blue that you see flowing from the volcano isn't actually lava...
It's sulfuric gas!
The gas is so strong that it can ignite into flames that reach up to 5 meters high!
Believe it or not, in the daytime, the sulfur is a bright red.
But come night, it dons its beautiful blue hues.
Most people wouldn't dare take any steps close to the mouth of this volcano, but there are brave miners who risk it in order to make a profit off of the unique sulfur.
In order to acquire it, they must withstand toxic fumes and temperatures that exceed 240 degrees.
Within the crater is a blue lake, that is just as toxic as the fumes.
It's crazy that this remarkably beautiful sight could be so deadly.
But one thing's for sure, Mother Nature sure has a way of showing us true beauty in the rarest forms.
