New York City's Dogs Take Center Stage In This Photographer's Story
The doggy version of The Sartorialist you've always dreamed of.
The dogs of New York are just as wonderfully diverse as its humans, and The Dogist is highlighting these playful pups.
His purpose is to capture the unique beauty of New York's dog population.
Elias Weiss (AKA The Dogist) is the photographic mastermind behind the project that started in 2013
He has even created a book to showcase the myriad of dogs he's met during the project
You can buy your own copy of "The Dogist" here.
Weiss aims to capture the unique character of each dog he meets
And he even includes a short anecdote or story (from their owners, of course) with each photo
For Nipo, the 4-year-old Spanish Waterdog, his owner told Weiss "[Nipo] herds ducks. He loves ducks."
And Henry's owner is very open about his doggie intentions: "He's a chick magnet, but it's the transition from girl liking him, to getting a number. I've got to figure that out – I have the next fifteen years with him."
Weiss has used the popularity of The Dogist account for good, too
He created the "Give a Dog a Bone" program which helps get dogs out of shelters, improve lives within shelters and promotes shelters doing great work for the dogs they host.
And your donation actually provides a shelter dog a bone, too (with an adorable photo as proof)
