13 Struggles Every Emotionally Sensitive Person Has Definitely Experienced
"I just have a lot of feelings."
1. You get emotionally invested in other people's drama and want everyone to just get along
You hate it when your friends or family fight, and even though you try to stay out of it, you get overwhelmed with all of the feelings going on. You're able to see both sides of a problem, which is why people confide in you anyway. You're like a big sponge absorbing all of these feelings around you and it can be extremely overwhelming. Just be careful of people trying to manipulate you - you have a good heart and no one should take advantage of that.
2. You bawl your eyes out at any sort of emotional ending in a book, movie or TV show
It can be something as cheesy as "Titanic" or "The Notebook" and you'll be drenched in tears. You live for happy endings, even if you don't always admit it - and any kind of sad or traumatic ending sticks with you and you never really get over it. (Are you getting butterflies staring at "The Notebook" GIF above?)
3. You cry easily over personal dilemmas
Whether your car suddenly won't start or your roommate ate the last slice of pizza in the fridge, you find yourself tearing up over just about anything remotely upsetting. Don't ever let anyone shame you for crying easily - there have been tons of studies that have found criers are more intelligent and mentally strong than people who cry less.
4. You fall in love fast and are easily swept off your feet
When you meet someone you share a connection with, you need to remind yourself to slow down at times. You're a true romantic and live for fairytale endings (see #2). It's easy for you to become so invested in someone, that you think that they're "the one." Do yourself a favor and know what you're getting into first so you don't end up hurt.
5. Breakups are a nightmare for you because you can't imagine completely cutting someone out of your life
You care deeply about the people you love, so actually letting go of a person is excruciatingly painful - you almost feel like you're losing a part of yourself. You might find you never really get over your ex, but just know that things didn't work out for a reason.
6. You take literally everything to heart
Whenever someone pokes fun at you or laughs at something you do, you immediately think what am I doing that's wrong/weird - even if you know they're just joking. You're extremely self-aware, so not knowing why you're being laughed at is a very uncomfortable situation. You may feel down about it for a little bit, but then remember they're your friend and (probably, hopefully) weren't trying to hurt your feelings.
7. Mean Internet comments get you down
Whether it's something you, a friend or even a celebrity posts, you get easily bogged down by haters. Also, you think vague comments on your pictures are the worst, because you automatically just awesome people are making fun of you.
8. You worry about other people constantly, especially hurting their feelings
The worst question in the world is when your friend asks you what you think of their outfit and you hate it. You don't want to hurt their feelings or for them to hate you, so you usually just sugar coat things to avoid any confrontation.
9. You're better at standing up for other people than yourself
For all those times you weren't able to stand up for yourself when something was bothering you, you're somehow able to do it for other people whom you love. You can't stand anyone being taken advantage of and you ~feel~ for people who are - and you're a boss at defending anyone who messes with people close to you.
10. The tiniest compliment will make your day
You become overwhelmed with emotions when people say something nice about you specifically. Whether they compliment you on your clothes or something you did well, it's difficult for you to not tear up and hug them. Yay compliments!
11. Super cute animals give you all the feels
Like, more so than a normal person.
12. Sad songs make you cry
You know in your heart that sad songs are the best kind of music. You have playlists of depressing love/breakup songs and you have no shame about it. It's not just the lyrics that make you cry, but the overall tone and emotional feel to the song. Now go put on some Lana Del Rey and soak it all up.
13. You need "me" time to relax and calm down from the chaotic world of emotions
Have no shame about that. You are fabulous, self-aware, observant and deserve a much needed binge-session on chocolates and mindless TV - ya know, nothing too sappy ;)
