Dust off those boxes full of old books. If you own one of the original copies of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," you could could be holding a book worth just over $50,000.
Yep, that’s right - a copy of the original 1996 release of the novel could get you £40,000 on AbeBooks.com. To get the $55,630 prize for your copy, you can trade in your original hardcopy of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone" with “Joanne Rowling” written as the author instead of J.K. Rowling.
Good luck finding it - There were only 500 copies made.
According to AbeBooks, an online bookseller that specializes in rare findings, 300 of the original copies are owned by libraries. That means 200 copies are floating around somewhere, waiting for you to find them.
While that’s the book series’ biggest payout, many of the other books offer a pretty good trade-in value.
Some are offering to trade between $4,000 and $6,500 for signed first editions of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone."
Naturally, people have been trying to find their old copies of the first book by enlisting the help of others...
While others have found high levels of nostalgia.
No one has seemed to claim the prize money just yet, so good luck hunting!
