Here's Why The World's Bravest People Are Actually Sensitive Animal Lovers
Give this man a medal!
This police officer from Lima, Peru is a hero to kittens and people alike.
Lorena Castro, a woman from Lima, Peru was driving toward the city's downtown when she saw a tiny kitten in the middle of a busy road.
Castro pulled to the side of the road and contemplated retrieving the feline herself. Fortunately, a police officer passed by at that moment and volunteered to retrieve the kitten.
The officer halted several lanes of traffic (and a city bus) as he went to retrieve the helpless and frightened animal.
It's pretty amazing Castro was able to spot the kitten - it's so tiny. But we're certainly glad she did.
The officer gently scooped up the kitten.
We're also quite grateful that Lima has some heroic and kind police officers.
The officer comforted the kitten as he waited for traffic to slow.
Eventually, he used his whistle and authority to halt cars on the busy roadway and bring the kitten to safety.
This is pretty scary, but cute kittens (or any kittens, for that matter) deserve to be rescued. The officer was able to bring the kitty to the shoulder, safe and sound. He opted to remain anonymous, declining any kind of potential recognition from Castro (or the Internet, for that matter) and went back to work.
Great job, dude.
True hero.
But that's not the end of the story.
When the officer brought the kitten to the side of the road, he left it with Castro. The above photo was taken just after the kitten's recovery, as she nervously rode in Castro's car. Castro took the kitten home, cleaned her up and gave her some much-needed love and affection.
Here's the kitten, looking happy and healthy, meeting Castro's dog Hank.
What a precious pair! Here's hoping she has a happy life with her new family.
