5 Of The Weirdest, Most WTF Things That Happened At New York Fashion Week
New York Fashion Week is basically every fashion lover's paradise. The nine-day star-studded event influences the way celebrities dress, which is what eventually makes its way into stores and then into your closet. This year, designers went all out and got very, um, experimental with things.
Honestly, a lot of it is weird but also pretty great.
1. Denim to the max
Maybe it's my inner '90s child, but I'm the first to admit that denim on denim rocks. It seems like designers are trying to put a new twist on the denim trend, but some of these turned out absolutely ridiculous. I want to be able to see where I'm walking and not look like I threw my denim skirt over my head. Also, I don't want to wear baggy pants that are a safety hazard to my clumsy self. But props to creativity!
There's also DENIM DREADS. Which OK, are actually really cool.
2. Hair. Lots of it.
Between crazy, drawn-on brows...
...to some bizarre variation of a mohawk...
...there was every hairstyle imaginable on the catwalk. Even one that channeled everyone's inner Sia.
3. People of all ages strutted the runway.
From infants swaddled in a knitted blanket...
...to a 94-year-old fiery-haired woman who was SLAYING IT, it's pretty cool NYFW wasn't ageist this year.
4. Weird hats that are out of this world.
Hats make a statement with any outfit, and when it came to NYFW 2016, hats were the statement. There were all kinds of bizarre-o hat hybrids that you would probably never wear on the street, but on the catwalk, looked pretty damn cool.
It's like unicorn hair sticking out of your head.
Other hats completely blended in with the outfits.
5. Random musical performances that you'd never expect, but are brilliant.
That moment when NYFW turns into a Broadway musical...
...or when a chorus BEAUTIFULLY belts out Fetty Wap.
And Tyga performing on the catwalk. Because apparently he's someone other than Kylie Jenner's boyfriend.
