These Headphones Will Get You High Off Your Music, And It's Totally Legal
"A calm wave of euphoria" -- What you have to look forward to, according to one testimonial
This is supposedly what your brain looks like when you're using Nervana's new headphones.
Pretty awesome, right?
The Nervana generator and headphones use completely safe and legal science to create a similar high to smoking weed.
So how does it work? The simple version is that the headphone's pulses stimulate your Vagus nerve which then triggers production of feel-good hormones like dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin.
The not-so-simple version, if you were curious: "A central signal-processing circuit receives both music and stimulation signals and routes those signals appropriately to the two earbuds...The proprietary left earbud, in comparison, not only receives the left channel of the music signal at its speaker, it also receives the stimulation signal within the earbud material itself, to deliver electrical stimulation to the inside surface of the ear canal and, thereby, the Vagus nerve."
You can listen to your own music or let the generator pick up ambient noise (the office, your commute or a concert) to send different synchronizations of stimulation to your nerves for a slightly different experience each time.
The headphones just premiered at CES and will be available for presale spring 2016 for $299.
One testimonial described the feeling after using Nevana:
"I felt the electricity go into my arm, and everything was tingling there, but the best moment for me was afterwards when I finished and stood up, I felt like I reached a personal high point. I couldn’t stop smiling or laughing. I was like, ‘Oh wow’. For about five minutes, my happiness level was a 10 out of 10. Then it got foggier, but I was still unusually happy for about an hour."
