Watch Ballerina Misty Copeland Recreate Your Favorite Famous Paintings
She's a work of art.
This is Misty Copeland. You might recognize her from Under Armour ads like this one.
Or maybe you know of her as the first black female principal ballerina for the American Ballet Theater.
In any case, if you've heard of her, then you know she's incredible.
In her latest effort to show what a powerhouse she really is, Misty worked with Harper's Bazaar to recreate some iconic works of art.
She worked with the magazine to recreate the works of Dégas, a French impressionist painter in the 19th century who created many works inspired by ballerinas.
“Trying to re-create what Dégas did was really difficult. It was amazing just to notice all of the small details but also how he still allows you to feel like there’s movement. That’s what I think is so beautiful and difficult about dance too. You’re trying to strive for this perfection, but you still want people to get that illusion that your line never ends and that you never stop moving,” she told Harper's Bazaar.
Each movement had to be precise and perfect to make the recreations accurate.
And of course Misty came through because she's a professional.
Here she is perfectly replicating Degas' "Dancer (Dancer in Green)"
