9 TV Shows You Probably Didn't Watch But Totally Should Have
If you missed these shows, don't worry - so did most people. But you should do everything you can to check them out ASAP, because they're awesome.
1. "Utopia"
"Utopia" is a British series that didn't air in the US, but totally should have. Graphic novels, prophesy and conspiracy - what more could you want?
2. "12 Monkeys"
Based on the 1995 namesake film, "12 Monkeys" the TV series is about a time traveler from 30 years in the future who returns to the past to inhibit the release of a potentially world-ending virus. You can catch it on the Syfy network.
3. "Family Tree"
This was one of my absolute favorite shows to ever air on HBO, and it unfortunately lasted for only one season. Created by Christopher Guest, it has the same feel and comedy stylings as "Best in Show" and "Waiting for Guffman." Chris O'Dowd is very charming as the lead character, who travels across the UK and ultimately to the US in a quest to better understand his lineage and relatives. As a bonus, ventriloquist Nina Conti is hilarious in her scenes with Monkey.
4. "Humans"
"Humans" is a great take on the classic sci-fi concept of machines living amongst us. It's an intense thrill ride all the way through.
5. "Silicon Valley"
Another stellar effort from HBO, "Silicon Valley" is a relevant and damn funny comedy from Mike Judge about the startup industry in California. The writing is remarkably clever, and some of the jokes are continued in perfect ways you couldn't even imagine. Definitely watch it - seasons one and two are out now, and they're working on a third.
6. "Person of Interest"
Jesus himself Jim Caviezel stars as thought-to-be-dead CIA operative John Reese in CBS's "Person of Interest." There are billionaires, AI computers, and lots of of vigilante justice in this crime/thriller/drama series.
7. "Agent Carter"
Occurring in post-WWII New York, "Agent Carter" follows the life of Peggy Carter as she splits her time between working for the SSR and the framed Howard Stark. It's a refreshing take on the Marvel Universe.
8. "Constantine"
Based on the DC Comics series of the same name, "Constantine" follows a supernatural detective who hunts and battles otherworldly foes. It's pretty intense, and great for action fans and fans of all things occult.
9. "iZombie"
"iZombie" is a wonderfully creative take on zombie shows. Liv Moore, a medical resident at a Seattle hospital, is bitten by a zombie one evening, and must learn how to control her appetite for human brains. After beginning work at a morgue, her supervisor condones her eating the brains of the recently murdered. She takes on traits of their personalities, which makes each episode unique and exciting. It also makes for the watching of great acting exercises by Rose McIver.
