This Doctor Pops An Enormous Cyst. Just Watch. Do It For Science
This is repulsive. You can't unsee it. But it's all in the name of science so, y'know, it's okay to watch.
When this woman had an inflamed cyst on the left side of her chest, Dr. Sandra Lee came to the rescue.
This is Dr. Sandra Lee. She's gained Internet fame as "Dr. Pimple Popper."
She is a dermatologist who provides education to people online about skin, nail and hair diseases. She has over 755,000 subscribers to her medical YouTube channel.
Now on to the good stuff.
Dr. Lee is performing I & D (incision and drainage) on the cyst. First, Dr. Lee must apply some anesthetic to the cyst to numb it before slicing into the bad boy.
Then, it's cutting time.
She has to cut carefully with a scalpel to allow proper drainage.
With just the tiniest bit of pressure, the cyst contents (which dummies like me just call "puss") begin oozing out. But that's just the beginning.
With more pressure, the puss really comes draining out.
I can barely look at that without puking. I wonder if the patient was watching.
After several minutes of draining, there's still a little bit left in there.
Most of the rest of the video goes pretty much like this. She presses a little bit, and wipes the drainage away. It's pretty unsettling, but it's science, so you won't look away if you know what's good for you.
This is the final result.
It's pretty cleaned out, but damn am I glad that's over and done with. I really hope I never get a cyst, but if I do, I'm going to Dr. Lee.
