Suspect Is Chased By Cops, Good Samaritan Stops Him In An Unexpected Way
#Legend
Kingston Police in London had some help from a good samaritan during a foot chase.
Being a cop is a tough job. You put your life on the line every day and very seldom receive any kind of appreciation or praise. Sometimes, though, you'll get help from the good citizens of this world, and that's extremely satisfying. Example A: this guy, who used only his foot to assist the Kingston Police in chasing down a drug dealing suspect. Citizen Justice!
Here's a video of what happened.
Two Kingston officers were chasing a man suspected of drug dealing when a pretty badass passerby stuck out his foot and tripped the suspect. This allowed the cops to catch up to the suspect and put him in cuffs. The good samaritan just continues to stroll along.
People on Twitter became instant fans of the unknown good samaritan.
They noted his "casual" demeanor in assisting the police. I'd also like to shake his hand, because he just oozes cool.
Some people wondered if the good samaritan would be charged with assault for tripping the suspect, which is a pretty important question when considering the phrase "no good deed goes unpunished."
The official Kingston Police Twitter assured that the man would not be charged with any criminal wrongdoing. He's covered by the Section 3 Criminal Law Act 1967, which protects good samaritans who help prevent the commission of a crime or who help in the arrest of a suspect.
But let's get back to the important stuff, like how cool the good samaritan was.
Stop a suspect while nonchalantly keeping your hands in your pockets? That's #cool.
The Twitterverse wants to give the man a medal. Would that be going overboard?
Maybe. He probably doesn't even want one. He's too busy being super #chill, walking around the streets late at night with his hands in his pockets, wearing tweed and preventing crime.
At any rate, good work, good samaritan.
