Literally No One Wanted To Play Ryan Gosling's Part In 'The Notebook'
What would "The Notebook" even BE without Ryan Gosling?
Ryan Gosling made just about everyone swoon when he starred as Noah Calhoun in "The Notebook." I mean, look at that godlike face.
He's so perfect, we can't imagine anyone else playing him... and thankfully, we don't have to because writer and producer Nicholas Sparks revealed that "no one wanted to play Noah." Lol, awkward.
"It was really interesting because a lot of the actors said, 'Well, what's Noah's arc?'" Nicholas told "IMDb Asks." Which is translated to: Why is Noah such a boring human?
“It’s a guy who falls in love and then he just kinda does nothing, and then waits for her to show up and then he’s there and he’s still in love and then at the end of the film, well, he’s still in love. Where’s the arc?” Nicholas said of the character Noah.
Since Ryan is incredible, he brought personality to Noah and Nicholas gives him full credit. “Ryan Gosling came in and he really brought that story to life," Nicholas added.
So basically, RYAN WAS BORN TO PLAY NOAH. He came into our lives for a reason.
Interestingly, Ryan recalled being cast for "The Notebook" in a 2012 interview, saying that he was cast just because he looked crazy.
"The director, Nick Cassavetes, called me to meet him at his house," Ryan told Company magazine. "When I got there, he was standing in his backyard, and he looked at me and said, ‘I want you to play this role because you’re not like the other young actors out there in Hollywood. You’re not handsome, you’re not cool, you’re just a regular guy who looks a bit nuts.”
UM, wat.
Well, thank god for crazy because Ryan has won mine (and millions of others) hearts and no man will ever compare to Noah. He has redefined relationship goals, and no one else is worthy of my heart. The end.
