"Man's Best Friend" And More Scientific Signs Dogs Love You More Than Cats
The never ending debate continues yet again: dogs or cats? This time, the discussion is aimed right at your heart, in a very unbiased, and instead scientific manner. It doesn't matter if you're an unapologetic dog person such as myself, or a cat person, who I feel very, very sorry for. Whoever you are, you're about to find out once and for all whether a dog or a cat has the ability to love you more. If the answer is the latter, even cat owners would be surprised, surely.
Okay, so this is a TV show and in no way scientific, there is lab research that proves dogs are the more loving companion of the two. The study was conducted by Dr. Paul Zak with 20 human-pet pairs: 10 of dogs and cats respectively alongside their owners.
What they found was that dogs released up to 5 times as much oxytocin when interacting with their owners as that of cats. This all makes sense when you realize dogs rely on their owners, while cats generally do not.
EXHIBIT B: This is what happens when you try to love on your cat–they generally give you the cold shoulder.
Zak did point out that the study was conducted in a lab, so the cats probably were more stand-offish than usual, but the results are pretty clear if you ask me (a very biased dog-only type of person): dogs love you more than cats, and always will, forever.
Cats just want to be left alone, so the fact we continue to try to force their return of love and domesticate them seems rather trite to me, but again, I only like dogs. Glad science can now back up my claims.
If this study's result isn't enough for you to prove that dogs are the better companion to that of humans, just check out this research which points to the fact that cats are definitely bigger jerks than dogs, but you (including cat owners reading this) already knew that.
