You Can Control Your Anger (Momentarily) By Following These Steps
Handling our emotions is something we as respectable adult humans are expected to do. Overreacting, lashing out or saying something we can't take back is not only not advisable, it's completely moronic. There are simple ways to manage your emotional output, but you have to be willing to follow the tested formula of anger management. You see, anger is the hardest emotion to handle, because, well, when you're angry, you tend to "fly off the handle," if you will. So, just follow these steps.
Understand the scenarios that trigger your anger
If you can get a grip on the reality that is your angry reality, you may be able to avoid the scenarios that make your anger come bursting out. Know what it is that makes you angry and simply don't interact in that type of situation. Rather than just bulldozing your way through a scenario you know will frustrate you, try and stay away, if possible.
When you come across one of those scenarios, don’t feed into your angry tendencies
So, you can't always avoid everything that may make you mad. At least you took the time to understand the scenarios that trigger your anger, so now that you're in one of those moments, you don't have to necessarily get mad. Instead, avoid your typical tendencies such as yelling or cursing or getting very red in the face.
Attempt to react in a way that you normally wouldn’t, as not to fall into the same chain reaction
By avoiding your angry tendencies and reacting in a different manner, you're taking the proper steps to control your anger. There's no need to completely fall prisoner to your rage. Do something different, even if it means your eye starts twitching and you're grimacing in a very uncomfortable fashion.
If all else fails, you need to be a stronger person than you normally are and just hold in that anger. Wait it out, and then later scream while punching your steering wheel on the drive home. There's no need to go berserk in front of all these people. You can handle whatever it is that's making you angry. Just don't…
Well, you gave it your best shot, but you're just completely pissed. Might as well just let whom or whatever have it. Let out the anger and feed that beast that is feeling caged up inside you. There's no way to handle your anger honestly, so the step by step guide for attempting to do so if only to prolong its inevitable destruction.
