Loving Mama Dog Breaks Out Of Her Cage To Comfort Crying Foster Pups
Puppy love at its best!
Late one evening, Maggie, the loving Australian shepherd, staged an escape from her kennel all thanks to her motherly instincts.
Maggie was boarding at the Barker's Pet Motel in Alberta (which had just received two puppies in need of adoption from the local animal shelter) when the owners locked up and went to dinner.
Maggie wiggled her way through a small opening when she heard the cries of the two puppies.
Maggie had just been separated from her own puppies, who were all adopted, but her maternal instincts were still strong. She searched around for their pen and stayed as close as she could.
"She paid them a lot of attention and you could see her little tail wagging. And she'd do the little bow down to them and poke them through the chain link gate of their room. She just decided that was where she was going to stay until we came to get her," explained Sandy Aldred, the owner.
"She came to me and she was really happy, and then she took me back to their room, as if to say, 'I really need to meet these puppies.'"
And meet them she did. Maggie cuddled up with the pups and stayed with them for the rest of the night.
"The puppies needed her and she needed them. It was pretty perfect."
