If Soda Commercials Were Honest, They'd Look A Little Something Like This
"Ahhhhh, sweet, sweet acid. Yes, 'acid' is the right word."
They have the ability to clean toilet bowls and erode pennies for chrissakes. Probably not something our bodies should be ingesting.
Oh, and touching it for too long can even cause skin damage. But that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Yet still, millions of people drink it regularly.
Why? Well, mainly because people are ignorant and hate having to change. But also because of ads like these, that cause impressionable consumers to associate things like 'happiness' and 'balance' with the soft drink.
In response to the utter lack of action taken by both consumers and the FDA to regulate or boycott Coke and other colas, 'Cracked' put together an "Honest Ad."
And it pretty much perfectly - and hilariously - conveys all the things Coca-Cola refuses to.
"We added some water and bubbles to it so you can pretend it's a drink...It's not. It's basically syrup. But my competitors and I have spent decades and billions of dollars to slowly make the general public associate our product with fun, happiness, togetherness, and in some cases entire holidays!"
Yeah, they don't mince words.
"But, if you're really concerned, we can put the word 'dye' somewhere on the can, and replace the piles of natural sugar with chemicals that are so incompatible with human biology that our bodies don't even metabolize them."
