J.K. Rowling Announced 4 New Wizarding Schools And They're Awesome
"Anyone wishing to know whether there is an approved magical school in their region should address an owl enquiry to the International Confederation of Wizards, Educational Office."
Note: the photos to follow are simply ideas of possible representations of the schools and have no association to J.K. Rowling's description.
The Japanese school is the smallest of the illustrious group, and students begin attending by day at the age of 7 before boarding at the age of 11. Upon arrival, they are presented with robes that gradually change colors as their wearers grow and learn.
The largest of all wizarding schools, Uagadou has stood the test of time (more than 1,000 years) to become a revered institution specializing in Astronomy, Alchemy and Self-Transfiguration. Students are notified of their acceptance by a "Dream Message" and small token left while they sleep.
Sadly there is not currently detailed information on the American school. We do know it is located somewhere on the East Coast (thanks to the map) but Rowling has previously noted it is not in New York. And in reference to the school, she Tweeted: “Indigenous magic was important in the founding of the school. If I say which tribes, location is revealed.”
The Brazilian school of magic accepts students from all over South America who wear bright green robes. They are known to be particularly adept at Herbology and Magizoology and the school offers popular exchange programs for students of other schools hoping to study the flora and fauna of the rainforest.
Like Hogwarts, the school itself looks like ruins to the Muggle eye, though for students, it resembles a golden temple tucked deep in the rainforest.
These grounds are protected by "the Caipora, small and furry spirit-beings who are extraordinarily mischievous and tricky."
The reveal is definitely a great way to tide us over until the release of "Fantastic Beasts" in November of 2016.
