Being overweight, experiencing pregnancy, smoking, or just getting old are all contributing factors to snoring. There are many more potential reasons for sawing logs, but I'm not here to diagnose you. I'm here to offer some solutions, both short- and long-term, to your dysfunctional sleep-breathing. If your partner frequently complains about the sounds uttering from your face in the middle of the night, or if you regularly wake yourself up mid-slumber from your own z's, this list is perfect for you.

1. Go easy on the booze

Supposedly drinking within four or five hours of bedtime will cause your neck and throat muscles to relax. Like with being overtired, this causes them to vibrate more. Thus, you're more likely to snore.

2. Hit the gym

While snoring is most certainly not exclusive to overweight folks, losing a few pounds could help, especially if you've gained weight and didn't snore beforehand.

3. Don't overwork yourself

If you're working too much and not sleeping, you'll be overtired when you hit the hay. This leads to lack of tension in your muscles and contributes to the vibrations of snoring.

4. Get yourself a humidifier

With more moisture in the air of your bedroom, your nose and throat are less likely to swell from dryness. Thus, less chance of snoring.

5. Try out some of these bad boys

Some troubles with snoring begin in the nose. BreateRight strips help open up your nostrils, and might help some people breathe better.

6. Buying new pillows never hurt anyone

Dust, pollen and various other allergens can gather in the fabric and materials of your pillows. You put your head on those things at night. While this might not totally cure your snoring, it will certainly lead to better health during sleep.

7. Quit smoking

By now, it seems everyone should know that smoking is terrible for your health, and it increases phlegm production and can leave your airways raw and irritated. There's a 100% chance that if you smoke, it's contributing to your snoring problem.

8. Invest in a body pillow

The position in which you sleep can affect your breathing. Sleeping on your back, for instance, causes your tongue to fill up your throat more, and this can add to the vibrating sound of snoring. If you buy a body pillow, you can more easily grow accustomed to a new sleeping position.
