Here's Why You Can Drink Wine In Place Of A Hour's Worth Of Exercise
What would you say if I told you that you could skip your workout and enjoy a nice glass of red wine to get the exact same health benefits of doing the opposite? Let me explain: a glass of red wine offers the same thing to your body that an hour of working out at a gym does for you.
Don't believe it? You probably don't have enough red wine in your diet to process some complex thoughts about nutrition and fitness.
Think of pouring a glass (preferably tall) as the upper body portion of your workout regime. Then, sit back and relax, because the strenuous part of this exercise routine is over.
An article published in Science Daily reveals that a glass of wine improves physical performance, muscle strength and heart function just as much as an hour at the gym would do for you. There's a key ingredient that does all the work for you. It's called resveratrol and can also be found in some fruits and nuts.
That's the beauty of science, in that we can reveal sipping on red wine is just as important for our anatomical makeup, if not downright replaceable for workouts in general.
Jason Dyck, a researcher among those on the team from University of Alberta in Canada, explained:
"We immediately saw the potential for this and thought that we identified ‘improved exercise performance in a pill.'"
In the name of a healthy heart of course, and not because you're too lazy to hit the gym for a measly hour. Yes, one glass of red wine equals the output of one hour. So, can we just assume that correlation continues. Two glasses equal two hours of working out, and so forth?
If that's the case, sign me up for the soonest triathlon, because I've been training my buns off. Surely, I'm not alone in this either.
Either way, science says you should drink red wine for your health, so let's not fight them on this one. "Cheers!"
