10 Movies With Iconic Makeover Scenes You Love To Watch Over And Over Again

by N/A, 9 years ago | 1 min read

Admit it - the makeover was 90% of the reason you loved these movies so much.

1. Mia in "The Princess Diaries"

Mia (Anne Hathaway) is just an awkward teen who finds out she's the heir to the Genovian throne. NBD! In order to be a princess though, she must look the part, at least according to her grandmother. So it's goodbye frizzy hair, bushy eyebrows and glasses, and hello gorgeous straight hair and contacts. She also gets a limousine, a body guard and an entire country, so that's pretty cool too. Talk about a major makeover!

2. Tai in "Clueless"

It's got to be tough being new to a snooty Beverly Hills high school. When Cher (Alicia Silverstone) sees Tai (Brittany Murphy) show up in flannel and bright red hair she knows that not only is Tai so adorably clueless, but it's time for a makeover. As Dionne puts it, makeovers give Cher "a sense of control in a world full of chaos." Tai becomes instantly popular and her confidence skyrockets thanks to Cher... for better or for worse.

3. Cady in "Mean Girls"

Cady (Lindsay Lohan) is a fish out of water when she goes from home-school in Africa to public high school in the Chicago suburbs. She's immediately thrown into the drama of girl world, learns all about "the rules of feminism," and, in an attempt to dethrone queen bee Regina George (Rachel McAdams), she undergoes a makeover to fit in with the Plastics so she can sabotage them. So fetch.

4. Vivian in "Pretty Woman"

Vivian (Julia Roberts) is "rented out" by wealthy businessman Edward (Richard Geere) and he uses her as his escort to his wealthy businessman events. But since a monokini top and thigh highs aren't exactly appropriate business attire, Edward has her max out his credit card in Beverly Hills with tons of fancy shmancy clothes. Oh, and what do you know, they fall in love.

5. Andy in "The Devil Wears Prada"

Another iconic Anne Hathaway movie makeover. Andy is desperate to prove herself in her career at a high-fashion magazine, so Nigel helps her fit into the image-obsessed world by giving her a makeover, which includes a slew of stylish designer clothes. As a result, her confidence soars as she excels at the job "a million girls would kill for."

6. Daniel in "Mrs. Doubtfire"

In an attempt to see his children after he loses custody of them from a nasty divorce, Daniel (Robin Williams) goes undercover as their elderly nanny. He goes full on granny in his makeover - between getting a woman's body suit, a wig, and tons of makeup. Plus, we can't forget Robin Williams' amazing granny voice. Sure, it's super weird, but it shows that maybe, just maybe, he wasn't such a bad husband and father after all...

7. Viola in "She's the Man"

Some loser, sexist coach won't stop Viola (Amanda Bynes) from joining the boys' soccer team - especially when she's just as good, if not better, than the boys. So Viola decides to pose as her twin brother Sebastian at boarding school, joining the rivaling school's soccer team. She gets full-on Bieber hair, talks in a low voice, and uses tampons to "stop her nose bleeds", and Channing Tatum still can't help but fall in love.

8. Gracie in "Miss Congeniality"

Gracie (Sandra Bullock) is an FBI Special agent who goes undercover as a contestant in the Miss United States beauty pageant to stop a bomber. While she may become feminine and learn to chew with her mouth closed, she's still a badass at heart.

Standout quote: "I am in a dress, I have gel in my hair, I haven't slept all night, I'm starved, and I'm armed! Don't *mess* with me!"

9. Laney in "She's All That"

When high school jock Zach (Freddy Prinze Jr.) is convinced that he can turn any girl into prom queen material, he sets his sights on unpopular art student, Laney (Rachael Leigh Cook). So no more paint-stained overalls, glasses and bad hair for Laney - Zach's sister (Anna Paquin) transforms her into a stunning beaut... but Zach discovers that prom queen or not, he loves her either way.

10. Sandy in "Grease"

"Tell me about it, stud." Good girl Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) has what she thinks is just a summer fling with greaser Danny (John Travolta) only to end up at the same high school. Awk. Sandy finds that in order to win Danny's heart once and for all, she's got to do what's necessary - ditch the good girl image for some black disco pants, a leather jacket and cigarettes. Girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, I guess.
