This Sloth Was Too Scared To Move From The Highway, So Police Helped Him

Last week, Ecuador transit police dealt with a scenario they don't often encounter: an animal rescue.

According to police, an officer noticed an adolescent sloth who'd wrapped himself around a highway guardrail, and turned around to help him.

And judging by the puddle underneath him, the poor little guy was more than just slightly scared.

And here he looks pretty embarrassed. Rough day...

Fortunately, responders were able to help free the petrified sloth and remove him from the highway safely.

Ecuador Transit Commission had this to say on Facebook about the rescue: "Dear, we are grateful to all for your concern. Be advised, the sloth bear rescued by our unis was reviewed by a veterinarian, the same one that determined that it was in optimal conditions to be returning to their habitat. We are grateful to all those people who were interested in the health of the animal. We will continue to support this kind of cases along with the collaboration of citizenship. Greetings to all."

As stated, transit police then took him to the vet to be checked out before eventually releasing him back into his natural habitat.
