Stumpf explains just how revolutionary this scale design is, and not just because it much more entertaining to stand on:
"There is a compression port and bleed valve in the front edge of the scale for calibration. The user can adjust the scale by turning the silver dial located on its face which makes micro height adjustments to the platform. Doing so zeros in the fluid to compensate for fluid expansion/contraction based on the user’s climate and ambient temperature."
As you can see, the clear glass allows users to watch as their weight is counted up (or hopefully down from previous uses) by the displacement of the green fluid in the tubes.
