Meet Today's Caveman Who Built A Modern Home In 700-Year-Old Cave
The first caveman with WiFi, for sure.
Mastropietro, his surname, actually translates to "Master of Stone," and apt description of the mind behind this creation.
He spent about $230,000 for all the renovations and interior work on the cave home.
The landscape of the 3-acre property is breathtaking and the 250-million-year-old cliffs are said to have inspired Tolkien while writing The Lord of the Rings.
Mastropietro actually did most of the renovations himself. He estimated he spent about 1,000 hours breaking rock and hauling out 70-80 tons of rubble to create his holiday home.
The interior is completely modernized with plumbing, lighting, underfloor heating, and WiFi.
He even created a one-of-a-kind walk-in shower in the bathroom.
When Mastropietro isn't vacationing in The Rockhouse Retreat, it's also available to rent.
Experience cave-life for yourself for about $280/night.
