Here's What Push Notifications Do To Your Phone If You Have 8 Million Instagram Followers
Social media has officially inundated our lives–a statement that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone reading this. You may even recall the five screens that nobody can take their eyes off of at any given point, as outlined by this online outlet (on a screen). But I digress back to the point, which is: many people now make a living just by operating social media accounts. In order to make a living off said social accounts, they need to have a huge reach, i.e. massive audience.
Enter Demy de Zeeuw, who operates the massive fútbol account on Instagram, 433. The account shares fútbol content from little kids to professional prowess. Here's an example of a magical free kick video.
Anyway, 433 has an insane audience of 8.1 million followers. However, this isn't just some ambiguous media entity, it is operated, as previously stated, by Demy de Zeeuw. You may interact with some of your favorite online brands and find yourself wondering why they don't ever respond to you. Well, there's a good reason.
The reason being, when an account with such a large fan base turns on its notifications, it's quite literally impossible to keep up with the reactions. Here's a still shot of notifications flying in after a post was shared.
You may think that doesn't look too bad. You may have a fairly popular account among friends that gets many likes from time to time, and your screen has looked like this before. Well, notice we said this was a still shot, and that there are many more interactions not shown that have yet to be scrolled down to.
Wait…hold on…that's…on this person's phone? How could you possibly keep up with that much information flooding into your phone all at once? That is just completely absurd. This is what it's like to live as the operator of a widely popular social media account?! WHAT HAS THIS WORLD COME TO?!
Oh, the humanity–make it stop!
Now you know why these big media brands often don't respond to you–it's literally impossible to do so, and if they tried to keep up with it all, they'd end up in the fetal position like this whilst weeping over the copious amounts of responses they'd need to grant.
And, now you know.
