This past summer, Romanian Mihai Barbu wanted to take his girlfriend Oana and their 4-year-old son Vladimir on a family vacation - only he wanted to take them to more than just once place - far more, in fact.
During their four-month expedition, the three of them traveled across all of Europe, visiting 41 countries, spanning a total of roughly 28,000 km - over 17,000 miles. Suffice it to say, it was not your ordinary family vacation.
They started their trip in Romania, with a tent, camping gear, and a 2014 Ural Ranger sidecar.
Then, they made their way through Austria and Germany.
Once they reached Estonia, they took the ferry from Tallin to Helsinki, Finland...
Where they camped some more, in its beautiful outdoors.
Then, it was back on the road.
Eventually, they ended up in Norway's beautiful Lofoten Islands, where they enjoyed some time on the beach...
And took in the picturesque scenery.
Then, it was off to England, where they enjoyed a spot of tea in the countryside.
Then Scotland.
Then Ireland, where Vladimir made a few friends.
And they visited the famed Doonagore Castle.
Next, the trio of travelers visited France, where they did some more camping. By this time, they'd visited 21 countries.
Next on the list was Portugal, where they experienced the colorful architecture or Porto.
Then, they traveled down the country's coast, to Cabo da Roca, where they took a brief pit stop.
Eventually, they made their way into Spain, through Andalusia...
Where they camped under the stars.
But by morning, they were back on the road...
To Morocco, where Vladimir made some more friends.
And given that it was the only country in Africa they visited, the three had quite the series of unique experiences there - like battling through a sandstorm...
Or riding camels in Merzouga through the Sahara.
Eventually they made their way to the beautiful city of Marrakesh, where they posted up for a few nights.
Then, it was back to Europe, where they took a ferry from Morocco to Spain.
They traveled along the coastline, through the gorgeous hillsides of Monaco.
Then they made their way through Italy...
Where they ran into a curious cat.
Stelvio Pass provided them some unbelievably breathtaking views...
And Montenegro much the same.
Finally, Mihai, Oana, and Vladimir made their way to Greece, their final stop.
And with that, their four-month, 28,000 kilometer family expedition was finished - but not without its share of warm, irreplaceable memories.
Here's a map of the three's travels, from Romania, through 41 countries, and back.
