This Enormous 'Star Wars' AT-AT Lego Build Is For Admiring But Definitely Not Touching
"Star Wars" fans are known for their undying loyalty to a galaxy that's "far, far away." That is, just about any memorabilia they can get their hands on, is something they're willing to try and get their hands on. Now, memorabilia may seem like toys, but to "Star Wars" purists, those things need to be collected and stored safely, because these toys, aren't toys to them at all: they're collector's items. The collector's may be adult men with a cabinet full of (not) toys, but that's whatever.
You may remember this "Saturday Night Live" sketch, which broke down adult fanboys and their view about playing with "Star Wars" toys: i.e. don't. Well, be prepared to meet one of these guys in real life.
See, you could play with these "Star Wars" toys, "Or, just look at! Radical!" That's exactly how these (not) toys should be handled–with care, and safe storage for viewing and never for playing. "Awesome," right? Well, if you're an adult Star Wars fanboy, the answer may be yes, otherwise, this may sound strange (read: comedic) to you.
Enter Charlie, your host of an installment from BrickVault on YouTube. Charlie wants to take you on an adventure into space by building this 6,000-piece AT-AT (All Terrain Armored Transport) LEGO set.
The time-lapse video shows his 26-hour build process and devotion to all things Star Wars. It's an incredible build, but the point is that Charlie doesn't want to play with this colossal "Star Wars" LEGO (not) toy.
By the end of the build he proclaims, "I don't know where I'm going to put it. It's huge. It's super fragile, so it has to be in place that everyone can see it, but won't ever, ever touch it. DEFINITELY not a model for playing with."
It's an amazing build, but again, why spend all this time building a toy if it "won't ever, ever" get touched again? Seems rather boring to me, but if you ask Charlie, it's probably:
"AWESOME!"
