This Artist Shows Off How He Has Progressed In A Series Of Work From Age 2 To Age 28
Like any committed artist, Hong Kong-based painter Marc Allante has honed his skills significantly over the years.
To show just how far he's come, the once corporate finance analyst compiled a series of drawings and paintings dating all the way back to when his love for art began, as a two-year-old, to now - and his progress is remarkable.
Age 9
While Marc had been an artist almost his entire life, he went on to study finance in college and eventually established a career as a corporate finance analyst after.
But not long after, tragedy struck Allante's family and it caused him to rethink everything.
“I was in corporate finance and insurance,” Allante told Bored Panda. “I lost my mother very abruptly to cancer which made me re-evaluate a lot of the priorities in my life. Ultimately, I felt that I would deeply regret not giving an art career a proper shot.”
Quitting his stable corporate job certainly wasn't a decision without risks, but the tireless months Allante spent honing his craft eventually paid off, and he was able to make a name for himself as a painter.
Now, he's reached a level of success where his art more than take care of his needs - something few vocational artists can say.
But Allante does have advice for those aiming to make their passion for art into a living. "I think with enough practice and patience, anyone has the ability to learn to draw and create art. I was lucky enough to start very early and be encouraged by my family, but I don’t think it’s ever too late to give it a go!"
As for Allante? Pursuing a career in art was the best thing he's ever done.
“I am usually grinning like an idiot most of the time and the happiest I have been in a very long time. I think it’s rare for anyone to be able to make a living doing what they love so I know I have been stupidly fabulously lucky!"
"At the same time, I am working harder than I have ever had in my life as I don’t want to rest on my laurels (or luck).”
And while pursuing your love for art, or whatever else you have a passion for, may not be worth quitting your day job, it doesn't mean you can't invest in it. Like Allante said, it's never too late to start.
