Her Parents Wanted A Cat Their Daughter Could Relate To, So They Brought Home This One
The bond any good owner shares with their pet is strong - this we know. But the one Scarlette Tipton shares with her cat, Doc, is unlike any other.
As luck would have it, the California-based family found Doc just before the holidays, allowing them to give her to Scarlette as a Christmas gift.
“We wanted a little kitten to have [Scarlette] grow up with, so she has something that’s just like her,” Scarlette's mother, Simone Tipton, told Love Meow.
"I let her know that she had owies just like her, and she placed her hand on her side and just nodded. She recognizes that the cat has similar struggles as she does.”
Not long after her birth, Scarlette's parents noticed consistent swelling in her left arm. Immediately, they brought her in to be examined, and to everyone's surprise, doctors diagnosed her with a form of cancer they had never before seen.
When Scarlette was just 10 months old they operated on her, removing her arm and the cancer with it.
