Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is a genetic disorder of the connective tissue that is caused by the defective production of collagen. It's most frequently characterized by "hyper-flexible joints" and is considered an "invisible disability." Taryn Eason, who suffers from EDS, has found a way to use her disability to show one of the many ways in which she is unique.

EDS is a genetic disorder that affects the production of collagen. It's most commonly characterized by extremely flexible joints.

Instead of letting the EDS get her down, Taryn decided to use the disorder to her advantage... by breaking out of a pair of handcuffs! Beginning with phase 1: putting on the handcuffs.

Taryn isn't letting EDS get her down. To her, it's just another thing that makes her unique.

Phase 2: maneuver arms like such.

That's some serious joint flexibility.

Phase 3: twist and pull arms over head.

I couldn't even imagine being able to do this.

Phase 4: make right hand super tiny and slide off the right cuff.

She must be able to tuck her thumb in really tightly.

Phase 5: make left hand super tiny and slide off the left cuff.

Way to go Taryn! And that was actually amazingly fast.
