6 Things You Buy Just To Throw Away Immediately After
Money is that which makes the world go round, but the saying about how someone is just "throwing away money" is actually (unfortunately) a 100% reality that nobody can avoid. It doesn't matter how frugal you may think you are, there are things that you're literally buying just to put right into the waste pile–in more ways than one. Understanding that fact is something that is hard to come to grips with when you realize that we've been living in an economy struggling to fully recover for years.
Isn't it so lovely to purchase paper specifically for the purpose of wiping poop?! Preferably not, if you ask me! Honestly, toilet paper, no matter the size of the roll, or the size of the bundle you buy, is literally just money that you're flushing down the toilet stained with stanky stuff! Why not just shower the one time a day after dropping a load off*? We need to stop turning (paper) money into toilet paper just to flush.
*if you do so more than once a day, see a doctor*
Trash bags are the most literal definition of "things you buy to throw away" because the first thing you do with a trash bag is (well isn't it obvious by now?) put it in the trash. How ludicrous is that? Sure, it serves the purpose of housing your trash until the final disposal, but you know what else serves that purpose? Trash cans. And, you don't ever throw them away–certainly not every single time you take out the trash. Why do we keep feeding into the greedy hands of trash bag corporations?!
You know what's really a fun thing to do? Buy a big bulk of things to use instead of using the exact same thing of that which just so happens to last forever. It gets better: the former bulk amount of things you're going to use instead of the exact same thing which just so happens to last forever, is you throw these things away immediately after use. Isn't that great? Buying something, meaning you now own it, then just chucking it in the blink of an eye. That's so cool to do, right?!
Online shopping is one of the biggest addictions, yet greatest conveniences that has ever existed in history. It's a modern day anomaly, and equally a modern day waste of your hard-earned dollars. Think about when you shop online. The products have to get to you somehow, and factored into that price of product purchase is shipping/packaging materials. So, when you buy something online, you're inadvertently buying packaging as well and then throwing those items away immediately. WHY?!
If you're strange enough to still receive magazine subscriptions, or crazy enough to be buying these periodicals in the grocery line, you know the entirety of magazine reading is the quickest of skims, followed by an immediate toss into the recycling (assuming your a globally minded person). Why is anybody still buying these creations, and just subsequently throwing them out when if all they wanted to do was skim through some of the highlights is to view it online, FOR FREE? Seems wasteful.
The excitement of shopping at a farmer's market is matched by the despair of a week later throwing away half the vegetable purchases, which is the same thing as just throwing away some money since you didn't eat that food. Shopping at a farmer's market is an incredible way to support the local economy while simultaneously draining your own personal economy. Keep your cash, and quit compensating the capital of crop growers if you can't consume the agricultural acquisitions.
The harshest reality to come to in this life is noticing when you become a person who owns a smartphone (which is nearly everyone in the world), you've also just become a person that's agreeing to throw away a purchase on a recurring basis. The only way for tech companies (i.e. Apple, Samsung) to continue to make money is to sell consumers a new product. If smartphones actually last much more than a few years, company revenue would plummet. Owning a smartphone is like owning future garbage.
