The Foo Fighters Hope You'll Volunteer To Do This One Thing When You Download Their EP
For weeks there's been an ambiguous countdown on the Foo Fighters' website, and on Sunday, November 23, the answer was finally revealed as to what fans were counting down to. Foo Fighters announced the release of a new 5 song EP titled Saint Cecilia: named after the hotel is was recorded in Austin, Texas, during the Austin City Limits music festival.
What's exciting about this EP is not just the surprise factor–new music is always exciting–but how the release is being handled.
Donation amounts are accepted including: $10, $25, $50 or $100. If you choose to donate more than $100, you'll receive a limited edition 'I Give' t-shirt. The money is going to an very important cause, and you get free music from a world-renowned rock band–what else is as important in life?
The announcement of the new music was made during their headlining set at ACL fest, but now knowing where the money is going, it's apparent just how incredible and influential of a band Foo Fighters really is.
In addition to the free music and donations, Dave Grohl penned a long, heart-felt letter about the EP release and how they hope to "bring a little light into this sometimes dark world."
He explains in the previous letter:
"The perfect unity of life, and love, and music is something that only comes around so often and in certain circumstances. When you feel it coming on, you have to take hold of it. That place and those people made it possible for our band to take one, big final breath before the curtain closes. Thankfully, we have evidence of this in these songs that we’re giving to you today."
