The coolest, glowing twist ever to come to America's National Parks.
Grant Mallory and Maria Jacobs love to travel.
They've visited 36 different locations within the United States
From the Badlands of Utah, Bryce Canyon, Crater Lake, and the Redwood Forest, the couple has seen some fabulous sights.
And document everything on their travel blog.
But their photos include a unique element - an LED hula hoop.
Maria picked up the hooping hobby in 2010, but recently upgraded to a new hoop which helped them create these stunning photos.
As a trained photographer, Grant captures these amazing moments of Maria twirling the hula hoop.
These shots by themselves are stunning,
but combined with the iconic landscapes of American National Parks, they're absolutely beautiful.
“The one thing that was always lacking in our shots was a mind-blowing backdrop,” Grant said in an interview.
Maria's hoop includes a remote control so the couple can adjust the colors to complement the background.
They solved this problem with the gorgeous natural settings of American national parks, landmarks, and skylines.
“We would have to wait until an hour or so after sunset to start shooting,” Grant explained. “We learned to be very patient to get the perfect exposure.”
The photographic process is complex, but definitely worth it.
“Most of these images were taken with two separate exposures, one to capture the landscape (6-8 second exposure, 5.6-16 aperture) and one to capture the LED hoop (3-4 second exposure 2.8-5.6 aperture). The separate images were then later stacked in post production to get our desired results.”
“Our goal was to (literally) put a modern spin on these iconic national treasures,” Grant said.
Mission accomplished, Grant and Maria!
