"The best Thanksgiving episode of TV is definitely WKRP In Cincinnati’s 'Turkeys Away.' When the manager of the radio station decides to create an amazing Thanksgiving promotion, everyone quickly realizes that the live turkeys they’re dropping from a helicopter flying over the city can’t actually fly. - Dominic Trombino
Lorelai and Rory consume a lot of junk food on a daily basis, but on Thanksgiving, they manage to fit in four Thanksgiving dinners. There's a ton of great moments in this episode, like Lane having her first kiss and Lorelai finding out Rory applied to more schools than just Harvard - but hands down the best scene is Jackson trying to deep fry the turkey.
"One: Gilmore Girls is the original fast-talking, wit-filled comedy that introduced me to hilarious television, so there will always be an intense love there. Two: they eat SO MUCH FOOD. And I just have endless respect and envy for not only eating, but enjoying four Thanksgiving dinners in one day.” - Hannah Poindexter
Piper is eagerly awaiting Larry's visit for Thanksgiving, but gets thrown in solitary confinement after dancing to "Milkshake" with Alex (lolol), which is deemed as "lesbian activity." Shoutout to later in the episode when Piper comes back from solitary and diffuses the sexual tension by hooking up with Alex.
This flashback episode is golden. In an effort to scare Chandler back in 1992, Joey gets his head stuck in a turkey and is unable to get it off, which is one of the most hilarious scenes in Friends history. We also flashback to when Monica sheds her pounds and has Chandler drooling over her, but then she accidentally drops a knife on his toe. That's love for you right there!
“The Dexter Thanksgiving episode is the perfect intersection of the series’ plot and shining a light on what holiday meals are really like: the tension. Sure, Dexter is simply joining Arthur Mitchell, 'Trinity Killer,' and his family in order to ultimately kill him, but that's when Thanksgiving tradition sets in. After a verbal quarrel breaks out at the table Dexter drags 'Trinity' by the throat to the kitchen and nearly kills him with a butcher knife–we've all been there, right?!” – Taylor Sade
You can always count on Gossip Girl to hook you in, and their Thanksgiving episodes are no exception. They do such a wonderful job with music to heighten the family tension, as displayed in this Thanksgiving episode from season 3.
“Gossip Girl always managed to pack tons of drama into their holiday-themed episodes from flashbacks to Blair’s eating disorder to Serena’s staged return to addiction which kept you on the edge of your seat. I was also always completely envious of the beautiful Upper East Side Thanksgiving decoration and spreads, so that was reason enough to get excited." - Hannah Poindexter
Because there's nothing better than watching the once awkward, nerdy Seth who couldn't get any girls, transform into the guy juggling two girls at once... who both happen to show up to his family's Thanksgiving dinner. He's got Summer in the pool house while Anna is upstairs in the bedroom and he totally just owns it. As drama-filled as The O.C. is, there's also some great comedic moments that make the show that much more awesome.
Buffy's Thanksgiving episode is so underrated. Buffy and the gang have their very first Friendsgiving, but of course, the vindictive ghost of a Native American killing a woman shows up causing some complications. The best is when Spike freaks out after Buffy accidentally turns the warrior into a bear. (P.S. - SPUFFY!)
All of the New Girl Thanksgiving episodes are great, but the one in the first season is classic. Jess invites the guy she's crushing on, a music teacher at her school, to come over for Thanksgiving dinner, and of course things totally don't go as expected, in typical Jessica Day fashion.
OK, it's a TV special, but it's a Thanksgiving TV classic.. and it's too adorable not to include. Peppermint Patty invites herself and her friends over to Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving, though Charlie says he can only make "cold cereal and maybe toast." It's heartwarming and nostalgia-inducing.
"You Just Got Slapped" is pretty much the best holiday song ever, which Marshall composes in honor of his slap bet with Barney. The Thanksgiving episode is so great, it makes us forget about all the awkward tension between Ted and Robin.
"Dark Shadows" focuses on Betty's looming sadness over her weight gain. Even though she's making progress in Weight Watchers, she becomes envious of Don's new wife Megan because of her youthfulness and her relationship with Sally... so Betty decides to ruin that by giving Sally a reason not to trust her. The writing in Mad Men is consistently outstanding, but in this episode in particular, they do a wonderful job at playing up Betty's flaws and her growing sadness through using other characters.
This Seinfeld Thanksgiving episode is classic. Elaine answers a radio quiz so Mr. Pitt can be apart of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade... and Jerry later ends up accidentally stealing a float. Way to go Jerry!
Mitchell may be sick of hearing Cam's pumpkin chunkin' story, but listening to Cam tell the story to people who just don't think it's funny is hilarious. Plus, nothing beats watching the Pritchett's throw pumpkins.
This episode hits you right in the feels. The lesson from the episode is that Thanksgiving isn't about turkeys or food, but rather about family and being thankful for what you have. A classic, quintessential Thanksgiving episode that reminds us of what Thanksgiving really is all about at heart.
