This Dad Left His GoPro On Selfie Mode While On Vacation And The Results Are Hilarious

by N/A, 10 years ago | 2 min read

Evan Griffin's father recently went on vacation from Ireland to Las Vegas. Sounds like a great getaway, yet these days, unfortunately, it's pics or it didn't happen. So, Griffin equipped his father with a video camera. Here's what happened:

"So... Gave my Dad my GoPro while he was in Las Vegas, I did not, however, instruct him on how to use it, so my dad being my dad, and a culchie, didn't know which way to point the fucking thing..."

BTW: 'Culchie' is essentially Irish for 'hillbilly.'

It all begins with this poetic quote upon arrival: "Look at that…it's stunning." This dad is blown away by the scenery of the Las Vegas skyline. There's just one problem…

We can't see it! We just see that fatherly face. Now, if he's playing a giant joke about vanity and he's calling the view of his face "stunning" then bravo, this is a superb video clip. However, we know that's not the case and he's simply in over his head technologically.

Would you? Would you just: "…look at that."

Whatever he's seeing is probably an iconic piece of Las Vegas real estate. Too bad we've just once again been prompted to look at his face inadvertently. We thank him for the commentary, but a little visual support would really help things out in this instance.

"That's where we are going to breakfast." We assume he's not talking about either of those giant what appear to be hotels or office spaces. We also assume he doesn't mean just right there on the sidewalk either.

He is rather, probably standing in front of a nice bakery or diner of some sort. Who knows? Maybe it's an infamous Vegas breakfast buffet. We'll never know because this "culchie" doesn't know what the heck he is doing with a GoPro.

There was even a moment of tranquility while he was riding the train. He must have seen something spectacular, but again, we're just left to the mystery of trying to decipher the emotion on his face for context clues.

We're sure what he sees here is breathtaking, and we'd love to know exactly what that was. With the power of technology (used properly) it's possible, but this dumb dad never figured it out.

Well, maybe he's on to something here–rather than ridiculing this guy, maybe we should give him his own Griswold-style Vegas Vacation spinoff movie? The entire thing would just be all the Clark-like flubs, but in selfie mode. We'd watch that film.

Anyway, you can watch the entirety of his trip here. He did some really cool stuff, but you'll just have to take his word for it since there's no actual evidence. No really, take a moment and "look at that" video:

We'd just like to thank his son, Evan Griffin, for uploading all this footage to show off just how ridiculous dads can be. We'd insert some sort of dad joke here, but maybe we should just say this is a joke of a dad(?) Too much? Or, brilliant of a subliminal dad joke? You decide.
