This Guy Rescued A Stranded Pelican, But What Happens Next Is Even Better

by N/A, 10 years ago | 2 min read

Bigbird the pelican was separated from his flock during an especially rough storm. He was rescued by Jeffrey, who has taken it upon himself to teach Bigbird how to–well–be a pelican.

Birds Animals Fishing Non-Premium

Watch this pelican learn how to be a pelican.
This is Jeffrey and his pelican pal Bigbird.

Bigbird became lost during a storm, got separated from his flock, and nearly died. Jeffrey rescued Bigbird and nursed him back to health.

Pelicans typically travel in fairly large flocks. When it's a team effort, pelicans have a lot of fishing success. A solo pelican is not quite as effective at catching fish.

Bigbird was separated from his flock at a young age. As a result, he never really learned how to fish, so Jeffrey is helping him learn.

To help Bigbird learn to fish, Jeffrey takes him out on the kayak.

As the kayak moves along, Bigbird dips his beak into the sea to get used to the motion of straining water through his beak.

They're a pretty inseparable team.

It's like Jeffrey is a pirate and Bigbird is his parrot. A nice pirate and a nice parrot, of course.

Learning to fish has been difficult for Bigbird. He really struggles catching fish as just a single, solitary pelican.

Poor lonely guy.

But then one day, to Jeffrey's surprise...

...Bigbird shows up back at camp, and he's caught a fish! Jeffrey effectively taught Bigbird how to survive on his own.

Now that's good parenting.

Way to go, Bigbird!
