They can adapt to pretty much any surrounding better than any other animal on earth. But can their incredible camouflage abilities hold up against horrible decor?
In a world that is constantly forcing us to change and adapt to new surroundings, the cuttlefish makes everyone else look like, well, a fish out of water.
Using their highly specialized, unique skin, they can change not only their color to suit any environment, but their shape and texture as well.
They do so by expanding or contracting various muscles in their cartilage-filled bodies, creating different pigments and textures based on the surfaces around and underneath them - a physical ability no other creature on earth possesses.
In short, their our world's end-all be-all masters of disguise. And there's not a remotely close second place.
But BBC wanted to test just how "unstumpable" their camouflaging abilities were. So they put together an underwater living room with various patterns to give the cuttlefish the ultimate test.
Let's just hope no one's living room is decorated that hideously.
And how the cuttlefish responded won't surprise you in the slightest.
