This unusual friendship pair is really a sight to see.

This is Kiko, a baby giraffe, and Loboito, a baby elephant.

The two live in the "orphanage" section of the Nairobi national park with other animals whose parents either abandoned them or were killed. They are fed and cared for in captivity, as it would be impossible for them to survive in the wild without maternal care.

Since Kiko came to the orphanage, the two have pretty much become BFFs.

Their interspecies friendship is quite unusual, and the circumstances leading to their friendship can only be described as serendipitous.

Kiko was found abandoned in the wild when he was just 1 week old. He would've died very quickly without care, so he was brought to Nairobi National Park.

These people are heroes, btw.

When Kiko was brought to the orphanage, he was much too small to be in the pen with the other giraffes, so he was housed with the baby elephants...

Kiko is growing rapidly–soon, the person feeding him will have to do so from atop a ladder!

...and Kiko and Loboito have been best pals ever since.
Loboito follows Kiko around everywhere!

Eventually, Kiko and Loboito will be returned to the wild.

But for now, the two have the opportunity to grow up safely and continue to build their amazing friendship.

Hooray for unusual animal friendships!
