These 2 Unanswerable Questions Will Completely Change Your Perspective On Life

by N/A, 8 years ago | 3 min read

Chris Anderson, the curator of TED talks, has a lot on his mind, and always has. The fact is, everybody should. There's a vast, mostly unknown universe (or universes) out there that we as a human race are wildly unfamiliar with. If you take a moment to stop and look around even, you'll realize there's so much around you, even in your intimate little sector of life, that you've been blind to.

Now, step back and do that in terms of the entire universe(s). It's hard to fathom.

Thankfully, Anderson has been pondering all of this for his entire life. This being the incredible amount of questions one could have when analyzing the world around themselves.
For instance, what makes up the puzzle pieces around us? What's it feel like to be a dog? Do fish feel pain? Etc.
Was the Big Band an accident? Additionally, is there a god? If so, how are so sure it was a man?
In that regard, is there really a plan for anybody's life? Is it already written? Do we really have free will?
Why are we even conscious? What's the point?
Furthermore, will robots someday become conscious, and what would that mean for human civilization?
Anderson always thought growing up that somebody out there had answers to all these questions he had, and for most there are answers.
But, there are two questions out there that have still yet to find an answer, even among the most brilliant minds in history. The first:

Yeah, try to imagine the fact that you don't even know what all is happening in what we currently refer to out universe, and now imagine that there is potentially an exponential amount of other universes out there we're currently unaware of.

The second question nobody (we mean nobody) has been able to figure out involves the age-old question of who's out there?

There's countless theories of extra-terrestrial life, and the technologies they may be in possession of, making them considerably more advanced than we are here are Earth. Inversely, there's also the thought that we're the only ones. Both are pretty incredible if you think about them separately.

We don't want to go into too much detail about the 'answers' Anderson provides about these two long unanswered questions, so instead watch him muse on the subjects here:

It's honestly hard to even wrap your mind around all this isn't it? But, that's what makes it so fun. That's what makes us human: the ability to think and be curious and explore. That's what will continue to drive us ahead a human race, and maybe, just maybe someday (or right now) we'll be the extra-terrestrials that other life forms in other universes are endlessly pondering over. What an incredible way to think about it.

So, those two questions have yet to find an answer, and we're not suggesting you go out and find it, or that you even have the ability to, but...

You may as well think about them while you can. It's what makes you feel alive in our minuscule spec of the unknown world there is out there. So, get to it–have fun, thinking.
