Presenting The 29 Disney Movies You'll Want To See Over The Next 4 Years
Disney (et al.: LucasFilm, Marvel, Pixar) has produced some truly fabulous movies over the years. And they have no intention of slowing down.
Here is the definitive list of the next 29 movies slated to be released between now and 2019; and from these teasers they'll definitely live up to their hype.
This completely original Pixar creation takes place in a world where dinosaurs never went extinct and instead live simultaneously with humans. This adorable duo develops an unlikely friendship, and go on some daring adventures.
The world doesn't even need many details of Episode VII of the Star Wars Saga to drive the hype off into a galaxy far far away.
What we do know is that it'll be set 30 years after Episode VI and it will be epic.
A huge departure from Disney's animated norm, The Finest hours is based on the amazing true story of the "most daring rescue mission in U.S. Coast Guard history," and will star Ben Foster and Chris Pine in some serious nautical 1950s drama.
In this modern animal world, Nick Wilde (a likable fox voiced by Jason Bateman) is framed for a crime he didn't commit and uses his species-specific cunning to survive on the run.
This live-action version of Disney's carefree classic definitely brings a darker, more realistic side to the story in an action-packed trailer with some seriously scary looking animals.
In Marvel's next installment, the Avengers are split in alliance between Iron Man and Captain America for some epic battle scenes.
Rumored teams include Scarlet Witch, The Winter Soldier, Falcon, Ant-Man, and Hawkeye led by Captain America facing Tony Stark's (aka Iron Man) team of The Black Widow, The Vision, Spider Man, and War Machine.
Tim Burton returns to direct another Alice adventure in which she must battle Time (the man) to save The Hatter.
The friendly gang of fish returns for another under-the-sea search party, but this time for their forgetful blue friend. You can watch the trailer for Finding Dory here.
While this remake will still have the essence of the unusual friendship between a young boy and a furry, green dragon, "everything else is very different," according to an interview with cast member Bryce Dallas Howard.
She also spilled it won't be a musical like the 1977 original, but will still incorporate some of the classic songs.
Benedict Cumberbatch will star as an arrogant surgeon who teams up with a sorcerer mentor to learn how to defend the world from evil after he learns of magic and alternate dimensions.
Disney's newest Polynesian princess will share the spunk of many predecessors as she takes a musical journey to find a mythic island and encounters many creatures along the way, including demi-god Maui, voiced by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
This star-studded cast of Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, and Forest Whitaker will chronicle adventures taking place before Episode IV: A New Hope as the team attempts to steal plans for the Death Star before it can be used against them.
The next live-action princess story will be a tale as old as time. The always-demure Emma Watson will play Belle while Dan Stevens (of Downton Abbey fame) has been cast as the Beast.
There are less released details about Marvel's otherworldly sequel, but the entire original cast is supposed to return for the second installment of adventure.
Rian Johnson will be directing the currently unnamed eighth installment of the epic Star Wars saga. Rumors are flying that Hayden Christensen as Luke Skywalker/Darth Vader will return, though this is unconfirmed by the production team.
The third movie in Pixar's Cars franchise will feature the same cast of auto characters and, fans hope, will provide more substance for the sequel than the first (popularly seen only as a money-making move).
In the fifth Pirates film, Captain Jack Sparrow will begin another seaward adventure to retrieve Poseidon's trident and fight an army of ghost pirates.
Marvel's third Thor movie is expected to be just as epic as the first two adventures, and with The Hulk making a guest appearance? Can't. Wait.
Pixar's Day of the Dead-themed movie explores the possibility of meeting your long-dead relatives. 12-year-old Miguel discovers a generations-old family secret that leads to an exciting and unusual reunion.
When his father, the king, is tragically killed, T'Challa must rise to the position of Black Panther. The new Marvel creation will represent a significant increase in diversity considering the African setting of Black Panther's world, Wakanda.
Disney's take on Jack and the Beanstalk will explore more of the world above the clouds with Jack, an adult Spanish explorer, befriending an 11-year-old giant with a "super-sized personality" on her journey back home.
The musical team from the immensely popular Frozen will be working on the music that is sure to be amazing.
Infinity War is openly acknowledged as the end of the Avengers as we know them, most likely why it will be split into two parts, but details of the plot are still to come.
The internet has gone wild with speculation as to who will play a young Han Solo, which has not yet been confirmed. What has been confirmed is that The Lego Movie team will direct the spin-off about the beloved smuggler-turned-hero.
As Toy Story celebrates its 20th anniversary, they also prepare for the release of their fourth film. Best friends Woody and Buzz will venture to rescue Bo Peep, a mission fueled by Woody's heart, as it has been released that it is indeed a love story between the two.
Paul Rudd's tiny superhero will star in his second film during the summer of 2018, but will also be seen in Captain America's 2016 release as well.
The ninth episode will be directed by Colin Trevorrow (of Jurassic World fame) but until the saga's preliminary movies flesh out the story, the plot for the final film remains a mystery.
Yes, we're finally getting our first superhero movie focused solely on a female hero! Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, joins the ranks of her male counterparts with super strength, the ability to fly, and even pre-cognitive abilities.
The live-action film has not yet casted a lead, though many big names are in speculation from Jennifer Lawrence to Shailene Woodley and Emily Blunt.
Perhaps one of the most anticipated sequels for Pixar considering the significant cliffhanger that closed out the first film, the witty Parr family of superheros will be returning to the big screen during the summer of 2019.
After the amazing success of Disney's live-action version of Cinderella, they have since announced the creation of four similar films. They are currently all unnamed (though there are only so many to choose from).
They are set to be released December 22, 2017; November 2, 2018; March 28, 2019; and November 8, 2019.
