California couple Carlee Leifkes and Lucas Unger, just got engaged on Halloween...

And as a pair who hangs their hat on being creative and atypical, Lucas' engagement ring was just that. It was a freaking WISDOM TOOTH.

That's right, the Canadian native used one of his wisdom teeth that his mom had saved from when he was younger as the "stone" for Carlee's ring.

The two, who'd met at a music festival near Lucas’ home in Canada earlier this year, apparently came up with the idea for the ring together.

“When we’d spoken about it, I’d said that diamonds are so overrated,” Leifkes told BuzzFeed News. “My birthstone is a diamond. I don’t need one to prove how much someone loves me. He’d already moved all the way from Canada to do that!”

After Unger's dad mailed them the wisdom tooth, they took the tooth to a jeweler to have a ring fashioned for it.

Presumably, the jeweler was more than a little weirded out the request. Nonetheless, he came up with something that Unger was happy with.

And although the two had talked about it significantly, Unger wouldn't allow his then fiance-to-be to see it until he got on one knee and formally popped the question.

As far as people's response to the bizarre idea, Leifkes recalls both of their families not at all being surprised.

“We told them we weren’t planning on having a diamond,” she said. “They were like, ‘You’ve never been traditional! Why start now?!’”

“What does a diamond signify in anybody’s relationship? I literally have my husband’s wisdom on my finger.”

As oddly endearing of an idea as it is, we're hoping that for their sake, he didn't give all his wisdom away. I would hate to see the headline "Couple Injured By Feral Rhino After Attempting To Raise It On Their Own" floating around the web six months from now.
