6 Beautiful Places Completely Ruined By Their Horrific Murder Histories
Any true crime lover knows NEVER to go near these famous body dumping locations.
1. Des Plaines River
John Wayne Gracy, aka Chicago's "Killer Clown," who assaulted and murdered at least 33 teenage boys in the late 70s, allegedly disposed bodies in this river.
Jeffery Dahmer, the Milwaukee Cannibal, also used the river as a dump site for the body parts he didn't...eat.
2. Baltimore's Leakin Park
Largely known because of its huge role in the "Serial" podcast, Baltimore calls this park the "largest unregistered graveyard" because it's so common to happen upon bodies there. Tread lightly as you hike.
3. The Green River
This eerie river was the disposal site for Washington's Gary Ridgway, who dumped the first five of his 71 murder victims here in the 80s.
Bonus creep: Someone dumped a murdered woman in a suitcase here just this year...perhaps a fan of the original Green River Killer.
4. The Mojave Desert
The mob is partial to this scenic burial ground, along with many a serial killer. Amid the vast desert that stretches into California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona, William Richard Bradford claimed to have buried 54 victims.
5. The Everglades
Multiple serial killers, including Ottis Elwood Toole and Henry Lee Lucas, disposed of bodies in the vast marsh lands of the Everglades.
Bonus creep: it is said there is a murderous cult that performs satanic rituals deep within the swamps.
6. The East River
It may be an iconic NYC view, but the river separating Manhattan and New Jersey is so full of murder victims that police expect a "spring harvest" every year in April, as bodies float to the surface.
