With Just A Screwdriver, This Artist Creates Portraits More Lifelike Than You Can Imagine

This artist doesn't just shop at the art supply store, he hits up the hardware store, too.
Artist, Andrew Myers does some striking portrait work.
But these works are actually a combination of portraiture and sculpture.
Because they're all made from thousands of screws.
That's right, screws.
He drills individual holes for each one.
And then painstakingly creates the color with oil paints.
"Every good piece I've made starts out as an experiment," Myers said.
He plays with depth in his work, varying the depth and placement of the screws.
"It's kind of a test to see how far I can push this material."
"I don't want that dead portrait look anymore. So, I want to make a scene; something that appears to be happening that isn't really happening."
This piece alone used approximately 8,000 screws.
