If you're desperate for storage space in a tiny apartment, you might want to take note.
Anything is possible... but this is genius. A man named Chris Heider built a platform bed with storage from an Ikea seven-piece kitchen cabinet.
He used three of the widest cabinets that Ikea makes along the side of the bed, and four cabinets at the foot of the bed to create steps.
After assembling the cabinets, he laid them out on the floor to bolt them together.
Make sure you don't put a back on one of the cabinets though, so you can have access to crawl space under the bed!
Then, he installed wooden frame boards on the walls and back of the cabinets.
The two shorter framing boards he builds support the center rail, which take on most of the bed's weight.
Next, he cut 12 pieces of wood that were the width of the frame and laid them out to check the coverage.
He calculated the space between the boards must be three inches.
The mattress goes on and the finishing touches are made!
He installed the last door on the access cabinet, and then dressed up the top of the cabinet using inexpensive panelling. If you decide to build this incredible DIY bed, you can accessorize it according to your own style.
