Seph Lawless, a "pseudonymous American based Photojournalist, Artist and Activist." His works have sparked the interest of CNN, Fox News, ABC News, CBS Morning Show, Huffingtoon Post, New York Daily News, The Daily Mail, The Weather Channel, BBC and many more. So, what is it that he's doing that's so phenomenal? His photography is showing the people of America something that's been right under their noses, but may have never noticed before.
Meet Seph Lawless. He told ABC News "I wanted Americans to see what was happening to their country from the comfort of their suburban homes and smart phones."
And that's exactly what has sparked his rise in popularity in recent years.
He's known for his snaps of urban decay...
And other abandoned places...
But, his latest project takes things to an even eerier place. Lawless recently traveled America and photographed the ins and outs of various haunted houses, that most people would never set foot in.
This particularly terrifying digs is shacked up in Pennsylvania.Â
And the inside is even scarier. The walls are ruined. The curtains ripped apart. What are the spirits residing here doing to this place?
Lawless intends to give you a glimpse into that very train of thought, and let your mind wander into the nightmarish fantasies you may come up with. Although, what you think may not be as fantastical as they are the reality of the situation at hand. This place really is haunted.
Here's another creepy place in Pennsylvania with paranormal energy being observed.
And there's multiple things that can cause these paranormal happenings: traumatic deaths cause spirits to linger in favor of unfinished business is the biggest blanket of theories surrounding these types of happenings.
i.e. you wouldn't want to be caught dead in a place like this, because you may "meet" someone, or something rather, that has been caught dead in this place.
These photographs are chilling enough to look at, so you can imagine the vibe you'd get walking through these bedrooms and hallways.
This Arkansas home looks like something straight out of a slasher movie, but it's scarier than that, because it's real and it's ghostly encounters, not a killer you may be able to fight off.
Would you have the guts to walk in here? Lawless does, and did.
Looking at this you can almost feel the spirits that are supposedly haunting this place. The crooked picture frame seems to say that things have been messed with by the upset lingerers in the home.
This home in Michigan looks like something that you'd see in a nightmare.
And the damage inside is just as petrifying.
Mississippi is home to this haunted house, and our first thought was we're going to see something pop up in one of those upstairs windows.
Speaking of which, if you want to head upstairs and check it out, be our guest...
If that's too scary for you, you can head over to Ohio and visit this scary residence instead.
We assume this light comes on and scares the living daylights out of visitors.
This old building proves that history can cause more energy to be stored within the walls as times moves along.
Like, who did this dress belong to? Is she still living here (in spirit)? That's the types of questions places like this raise.
Like you can see again here, whose was this? Paranormal investigators say that haunting spirits want visitors or new residents to feel their pain.
So, don't mess with their clothes if you don't want to get messed with yourself.
Here's another from Michigan, and the fact that it's boarded up should speak to the fact that there's something in there that people don't want to escape.
But, if you're brave enough to go in, have fun going up these steps. Note: more hanging clothes. Is that a haunted house trend? It's eery to say the least.
So, who lived in the top room? Isn't that where the most scary experiences happen?
We can assume the haunting spirit sits in that chair and waits for brave passers through. The hair on the back of our neck is currently standing up thinking about it.
These photographs are only the beginning of his extensive project into the haunted houses across America. Lawless has compiled all his findings into a photo book called Hauntingly Beautiful, so if you want to see more of what he saw click the link for information on the book.
And this project has even taken on a new direction. Lawless has turned his findings into a television broadcast event that creepy enthusiasts don't want to miss out on. Here's a sneak peak at the horrifying action:
Until then, commend Lawless for making his way through hellacious homes like this...
And follow him on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more insights into his various photography projects.Â
He states: "This isn't social media...this is a social movement." Seems he's moved the masses toward a more honest eye on the things we've been ignoring in our own backyards.Â
