We could all learn a lesson from these curious little robots.
Matt Dixon, a computer illustrator who works in the gaming industry, loves what he does.
And he does it a lot.
But when he's not busy "painting angry goblins or weird alien slugs," he likes to take a load off and break up the monotony.
One might assume that a computer illustrator would want to spend his relaxation time away from the computer...
Dixon, however, prefers to unwind in front of his monitor - he just likes to create something different, specifically these curious little nature-exploring robots.
In his words, "nothing soothes my mind and calms my nerves like retreating into the world of my robots."
Dixon states that while he always has the desire to create his fanciful works, they're never truly planned.
"When I’m in the mood, I just sit down and they just seem to happen. That’s partly why I named my first book collecting this artwork ‘Transmissions’ as the images sometimes feel as if they’ve been transmitted into my brain from somewhere else," he writes on Bored Panda.
He also states that while creating them is certainly satisfying, the reactions they generate are even more rewarding.
Viewers have quickly turned to followers, and followers to fans.
Unanimously, they've all requested that Dixon continue making more of his curious robots.
As for the intent behind their seemingly melancholy moods, Dixon writes, "Maybe they’re lost, but I see them trying to make sense of the quiet wonder around them. I think that’s something we can all relate to."
Indeed, no one is excluded from trying to make sense of this world - not even robots.
A campaign for his second collection of work is currently under way. You can visit here to check out his Kickstarter campaign to make an official art book too!
