No ramp? No problem!
Ten students in Switzerland have collaborated to create a wheelchair that can go up stairs with ease.
The Scalevo was created as a final project by engineering and industrial design students at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and the Zurich University of the Arts.
Scalevo is essentially part wheelchair and part Segway.
It has only two wheels and uses gyroscopic technology to make quick rotations and stops. It can travel at about 6.2 miles per hour.Â
Scalevo uses two tracks in order to ascend and descend chairs quickly.
Scalevo can travel up and down stairs at a slope between 17 to 34 degrees.Â
It climbs up the stairs backwards, keeping the user upright at all times.
It can even go up spiral staircases.Â
