"If you are old, ugly, or poor, please sit elsewhere."
Recently, park benches throughout Chester, England became the victims of pranksters, who installed very official-looking, engraved brass plaques on them.
Naturally, these opposers decided to do something in response - something that would get attention.
And get attention they did. After learning of the plaques, Chester council had them removed, and are now pursuing information on the purpose-driven pranksters.
But unlike most pranks, these actually had a purpose behind them.
According to the Metro, the plaques were installed by anonymous artists to protest the Chester city council’s plan to pass a "Public Space Protection Order." The law, supporters believe, would help reduce "antisocial behavior" in public spaces, but opposers are convinced it would only be used to unfairly target the homeless.
And given the fact that its, ya know, a prank, I'm gonna go way out on a limb and assume no one's come forward with any yet.
And hopefully it stays that way, because I'd love to see some more installations.
