This Airplane Passenger Bit Someone, Fell Unconscious And Died: Here's The Crazy Details

by N/A, 10 years ago | 2 min read

On a flight from Lisbon, Portugal to Ireland, a 25-year-old passenger apparently 'ran amok.' Now what exactly does that mean? Sounds pretty harmless in comparison to what exactly happened. Apparently, the 170-passenger flight was making an emergency medical landing and diverted from its original destination of Dublin when things went south.

The man in question is said to have became, "agitated" and became "extremely violent" so he was restrained by those on board the flight.
That's when Flight EI 485 was forced to divert to an emergency medical landing at the Cork Airport. During the restraining of the "amok" running passenger, one of the men doing so was bitten.
That's when the man fell into a state of unconsciousness. The crew told air traffic controllers that the man was receiving attention from a doctor on board. However, he no longer had a pulse upon arrival.
Passengers were held at the Cork Airport for initially questioning in the investigation of the man's death. The man who was bitten was taken to the hospital for treatment.

From The Guardian:

"It is not known exactly when he died, but police said he was pronounced dead at the scene when the aircraft landed at Cork shortly before 6pm. He was reportedly unaccompanied on the flight."

You can watch a quick overview of the entire eerily messed-up situation right here:

An update on this story shows that a woman aboard the flight actually did know the deceased passenger. What makes that finding so bizarre is that she was arrested for drug trafficking. Could that have anything to do with his death–the drugs that is. Details on his death are to be determined from a post-mortem examination on Monday, October 19.

Biting people and death, while being extremely violet, etc. Sounds like a sign of the zombie apocalypse to us...

We sure hope not though.
