Cognitive biases are a happening in the brain when making decisions that cause you to make a mistake in reaching your solution. They're associated with previous memories that cause you to relate earlier emotions to the current situation, which in turn messes up your reasoning, evaluating and other processes.
In fact, these weighted decisions slip-ups are increasingly used and (unfortunately) abused against you in your career in the business, marketing and political fields, for example.
You may be completely unaware of the cognitive biases, and when you make a decision during the course of a day at work, your previous experiences are what's making the decision for you, rather than your knowledge of the current state of affairs. That's not good.
So, the people over at Business Insider drew up this helpful chart to help you realize what it is that's making your brain have these routine bouts with irrationality. Which of these have you fallen victim to?
Now that you're more aware of these cognitive biases, maybe in the future you can avoid the slip-up. Good luck with that.
