This Bloody Raspberry Jam Red Velvet Cake Recipe Is Inspired By "Walking Dead" And Yummy

Toronto-based baker Yolanda Gampp shows how to make an incredible deep red velvet Walking Dead-inspired brain cake, complete with fondant brain tissue and raspberry jam blood.

It may bear a creepy resemblance to a real human brain, but Yolanda Gampp has crafted the brain cake with scrumptious, mouthwatering ingredients you'll definitely want to try.
The inside of the brain is a rich, deep red velvet cake.

Start by carving small slivers of your cake into a rounded brain shape, and then cut the dividing lines of the brain hemispheres. This takes a bit of skill, so it might be best to look at a brain model while you're carving!

Soak it with simple syrup, crumb coat and chill in the fridge.
Next, use fondant to create the brain creases.

Apply a thin layer of buttercream to get the fondant to stick. To get the "creases," roll tubes of fondant to a one-centimeter diameter, then lay the tubes onto the iced brain cake into the wavy pattern. Note: you may need to use a knife or scalpel to trim the edges so it goes on neatly!

Use the remaining fondant to craft the cerebellum.

Roll two balls of fondant, flatten them out a bit to fit under the brain, and then run a knife over it to create lines. When you're done, place it down on the cake stand first, and then put the brain on top of it so that it's even with the cerebellum underneath.

Use seedless raspberry jam to make the brain look red and realistic.

It also adds a sweet touch! Brush it around every nook and cranny and voila! You've got yourself a brain cake.

Here's the video of the full demonstration.

Happy brain eating!
